Chang, Mangven .L. C.
Contribution a l'etude Morphologique, Biologique et systematique des Amphibiens, Urodeles de la Chine
Paris: Librairie Picart, 1936. First edition. Pp. 156, 5 full page plates (line-drawings), 3 distribution maps, 20 text-figures. Original printed pale blue stiff wrappers, 8vo. This volume is based on Chang's Ph.D. dissertation which he completed in 1936 at the University of Paris. This monograph is the first complete study of Chinese salamanders (Adler, volume 2, p. 186). The work is warmly inscribed by the author to French zoologist Leon Bertin; the inscription is in French with Chang name signed in French and in Chinese characters. It is likely that very few copies of this work were published which has contributed to its great scarcity. From the library of herpetologist Ernest A. Liner with his stamp on the front wrapper, there is also a small book plate of an additional herpetologist on the inside front wrapper. The spine and the outer margins of the wrappers are lightly sunned, the spine is slightly canted; a tight copy in very good condition..
